New additions to the Institute line-up

SCALL Institute Session – Current Awareness:  Delivering the Right Information, Using the Right Tool:

Current awareness is one of the biggest challenges we face: monitoring the onslaught of information and getting the right information into the right hands at the right time.  And there are an ever-growing number of tools out there that help us do just that, but what should we look for in media monitoring tools?  What criteria do we use to evaluate the many products out there?  This session will walk you through the evaluation process, giving you the tools you need to make the right choice for your institution.

  • Charlie Frey, Director of Library at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP

SCALL Institute Session – Turning Information Into Insight:

The final step in the information process is to deliver the results to the end user —  but even that’s changed!  Gone are the days when we can simply deliver the results in a “data dump.”  Our end users are expecting us to summarize, to evaluate the results and synthesize them so that they can be “actionable.”

Speakers:

  • Scott Bailey, Global Director of Research Service at Squire Patton Boggs LLP, and Chair of the Private Law Librarians & Information Professionals (PLLIP) SIS
  • Paul Moorman, Senior Law Librarian – Research Services, Foreign and International Law, USC
  • Patrick Sullivan, California Region Research Librarian, Jones Day
  • Moderator:  Mark Gediman, Director of Information Services, Best Best & Krieger
