Moderator: Cornell Winston Law Librarian, United States Attorney’s Office In this session, Cornell Winston will MC a series of mini presentations highlighting SCALL’s accomplishments over the last 50 years. |

Michael Saint-Onge will provide a succinct overview of the changes and challenges that SCALL members may have experienced firsthand. |

During this time, law librarians have innovated and created new ways online to train law students, attorneys, and members of the public. In this session, we will hear from seasoned trainers about essential lessons from the field and how they work to train people effectively, no matter where the trainees may be. |

10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. | Acquiring Essential Skills for the Future: Tech CLE for Law Librarians Cas Laskowski Head of Research, Data, & Instruction, Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library, University of Arizona Year in and year out, law librarians have been skilled adaptors to ever-changing legal research platforms and legal research strategies. But now, more than ever, law librarians need a deeper underlying knowledge of technology and data structures to effectively assess product innovations and train others how to research effectively. In this closing session, Cas Laskowski will highlight new tools that enable librarians to have a deeper understanding of the technology underlying legal databases and build on their existing research strengths. In doing so, law librarians will learn not only about the breadth of tech learning tools available but also discuss how to foster creative engagement and attain an increased sense of agency with these tools. |
