Erik Adams, Manager of Library Digital Initiatives, Sidley Austin

Erik Adams is the Manager of Library Digital Initiatives at Sidley Austin and Chief of Technology of Golden Arrow Publishing. He has more than 20 years’ experience working in law firms and high-tech startups. He contributed a chapter to the book “Law Librarianship in the Age of AI” and is co-author of the recent AALL Spectrum article “DIY Analytics: Beyond Excel”. He is a dot com survivor, having worked for several years at the kinds of companies that had a foosball table in the break room. He received his Master of Library and Information Science from UCLA back when gopher was more popular than www.

 

Loyd Auerbach, Knowledge & Research Consultant

Loyd Auerbach is the Knowledge & Research Consultant for AmLaw 200 firms in California, Texas, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Arizona. He recently passed 29 total years with LexisNexis, though he was away for 10 years until his return in 2017 in his current role. In his initial run with Lexis, he served in several roles including as a training consultant and practice area specialist. In his time away from the company, he gained a diverse experience with several law firms as a contract librarian and researcher, in the library at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and as a public speaking coach and professional speaker. He teaches online Parapsychology courses for the Rhine Research Center and Atlantic University, where he is an Adjunct Professor, is on the Board of Directors for two non-profits, and is a published author of a number of nonfiction books and co-author of two novels, the second of which came out last month. And many of us know him also a chocolatier and chocolate guide.

 

Andre Davison, Research & Information Services Operations Manager, Orrick LLP

“Building the Opportunity Pipeline”

Andre Davison is the Research & Information Services Operations Manager at Orrick LLP. He is an accomplished Knowledge and Information professional with 25+ years of experience in the legal and corporate sectors. Andre has been recognized for his efforts in diversity and innovation in the legal industry. In 2018, Andre was awarded his law firm’s diversity award, and he was the American Association of Law Libraries’ (AALL) Innovation Tournament winner in 2019. He is a 2020 Fastcase award winner, honoring the law’s smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries, & leaders. In 2021 Andre was elected as a fellow to the College of Law Practice Management. Currently Andre serves as a board member on the AALL Executive board and is the immediate past Chair of the Black Law Librarians Special Interest Section (BLL-SIS).


Daisy De Anda
, Legal Research Specialist, Sheppard Mullin

Daisy De Anda is a dedicated Legal Research Specialist at SheppardMullin with 19 years of legal industry experience. With an eye for reliable and actionable information, Daisy takes pride in assisting attorneys from around the world in a wide range of legal and industry fields. She has served on various roles within SCALL, most recently as the immediate past Executive Board Secretary and Chair for the Public Relations Committee. She also served on AALL AMPC Committee for 2022 and continues to be a proud member of SCALL’s Community Youth Internship Experience Committee.

 

Patrick M. Sullivan, Research Librarian, Jones Day

Patrick Sullivan is a Research Librarian at Jones Day in Irvine.  After receiving his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1992, he worked as an entrepreneur building a litigation support business. In 2000, he began work at LexisNexis as a Solutions Consultant and was reminded every day how enjoyable research could be. In 2009, he finally realized he was on the Wrong Side of The Desk ™, and immediately sent in his application to San Jose State University. He received his M.L.I.S. in 2011, and has been at Jones Day since 2013.

 

 

Mark Torchiana, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Courtroom Insight

Mark Torchiana is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Courtroom Insight where he drives the company vision and product evolution. He worked for over 20 years as an expert witness in forensic accounting which informed his knowledge of litigation research and workflows. He is passionate about simplifying and improving access to relevant and actionable legal analytics and insights.

 

 

 

AALL Special Guest

Diane M. Rodriguez, AALL Immediate Past President

Diane M. Rodriguez is the assistant director of the San Francisco Law Library and currently serves as the immediate past president of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL). She has worked in law libraries in San Francisco for 34 years, beginning as a library clerk in 1989. Last year, as AALL president, she highlighted advocacy for access to legal information which supports access to justice. Diane has also served as president of the Northern California Association of Law Libraries (NOCALL) and is a member of the Council of California County Law Librarians (CCCLL). She currently serves on the advisory council to the Ithaca S&R IMLS Grant Project focused on Expanding Public, State, Law, Prison, and Academic Library Collaboration to Serve Library Patrons Behind Bars. She is the current NOCALL Government Relations Chair and the first Chair, and a founding member, of the new AALL Baseball Caucus.
