Social Media Policy
The Southern California Association of Law Libraries (SCALL) will host social media platforms and professional networking communities. Examples of social media tools include but are not limited to: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and blogs. SCALL members are encouraged to engage with SCALL’s social media platforms.
This policy applies to all SCALL members when they use social media in the following capacities:
- Adding content to official SCALL social media pages
- Making references to SCALL on social media platforms
This policy does not apply to SCALL members in their personal use of social media platforms where the members make no reference to SCALL.
Purpose:
When posting media content to SCALL’s social networking sites, the posts should directly relate to law librarianship, legal research, or SCALL activities, such as:
- Events and Programs
- Career opportunities
- Scholarships and Grants
- Service and Awards
- Publications
- Member benefits
Social Media postings should not include document requests, solicit or conduct business, including the direct or indirect marketing of members’ products or services, in any manner.
SCALL social media postings shall be moderated. Posts that fail to follow guidelines will be removed. Approved posts do not imply endorsement by SCALL.
This policy may be amended at the discretion of the SCALL Board at any time without prior notice.
